Spicy hot chocolate

IMG_1308.jpg

There is nothing like a cup of hot chocolate on a winter evening or when you get back home from a quarantine walk. But for some people (me including) hot chocolate just from chocolate is too rich and most of the time I don’t feel like having it. But when you combine chocolate and cocoa powder, it is a different story! And making it spicy with chili or cayenne pepper is just delicious (the amount is totally up to you, if you like things really spicy add more, just taste and try)

Ingredients

1tbsp cocoa powder
20g chocolate
1/4tsp cinnamon
pinch of chili powder or cayenne pepper
250ml milk (I used oat)
optional: sweetener of your choice

Method

  1. Put about half of milk in a small saucepan and simmer it on a medium heat for about a minute or two. Whisk in all of the ingredients (except for chocolate) until there are no lumps and then add the rest of the milk and chocolate.

  2. Cook about 5 mins, until chocolate is melted.

  3. It is ready to serve, you can dust it with more cocoa powder or cinnamon (or vegan marshmallows!)
